UniNEtZ - Universities and Sustainable Development Goals

In the project "UniNEtZ - Universities and Sustainable Development Goals", a total of 24 university and non-university partner institutions in Austria are taking on social responsibility by working together to contribute to a socio-ecological transformation. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015 serve as a framework. Just as the SDGs are interconnected in many ways and can only be implemented in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary manner, UniNEtZ represents a broad spectrum of expertise from the social sciences, natural sciences, technology, art and music. The groups are made up of scientists, artists and students from a wide range of disciplines and institutions.
The results of the first project phase (2019-2021) are published in the UniNEtZ Options Report: "Universities and Sustainable Development Goals. Austria's options for action to implement the UN 2030 Agenda for a future worth living", which shows options and measures for sustainable development for each SDG.

In the meantime, not only has the network of partner institutions grown, but also the thematic focus of the project. In the current second project phase (2022-2024, UniNEtZ II), the 17 SDGs are supplemented by five focus areas. From transdisciplinary dialog with various stakeholder groups to scientific monitoring of the implementation of the options, the design of a sustainable research landscape and the creation of inter-university, transformative study programs, a wide range of topics are covered that work towards the same goal: a socio-ecological transformation that should enable a good life for all.
