Cross Fertilisation Sommersemester 2023

An important element of teaching at the IGE is cross-fertilization. This refers to a concept in which students from all courses dealing with the same topic in the context of the annual theme at different levels of study progression, as well as between Graz University of Technology and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, can enter into dialogue, learn from each other and benefit from mutual exchange within the framework of an event with short presentations and discussions.

COMPETITION "SEESTADT ASPERN 2030"

The competition “Seestadt Aspern 2030” was carried out in cooperation between ARE Austrian Real Estate GmbH, the Institute for Buildings and Energy at TU Graz and the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Seestadt Aspern in Vienna is one of the largest urban development areas in Europe in the 22nd district. High-quality living space and workplaces are being created at this location. A multi-stage development process gave the students the opportunity to design the construction sites J6 and F7 as part of their courses. The above-mentioned construction sites are two real construction projects.

Project Building Site J6 Aspern:
The construction field J6 is located in the southeastern part of the Seestadt Aspern. Depending on the course attended, the competition entries should deal with “Renewable Aesthetics” or environmental certifications (e.g. platinum level) and try to meet the required criteria. In the process, a mixed-use building ensemble was designed.

Project Building Site F7 Aspern:
Baufeld F7 is centrally located in the Seestadt Aspern. The main focus of the courses in the summer semester the topic “Outdoor Comfort and Microclimate.”
