Mobility Funding Opportunities for Master’s Students at TU Graz

As part of the GreenChips-EDU project, the Institute of Electronics at TU Graz has opened a call to apply for a scholarship, supporting Master’s students enrolled or planning to enroll in the relevant study programmes at TU Graz:

  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Information and Computer Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering


Which activities do we support?

Funding can be awarded to TU Graz students for international or domestic mobility connected to the GreenChips-EDU project topics (education or research in the field of "Green and Sustainable Microelectronics").

Your mobility may take place at:

  • Project partners: University, Industry, SME, and research partners (see list of partners here).
    • See our Partner's open internship positions here.
    • Have a look at our interactive formats and events (Workshops, Summer Schools ...) 
    • We will also advertise Master thesis or other research positions soon.
  • International companies, research institutions and industrial sites not formally part of the project, if the activity clearly supports the goals of GreenChips-EDU ("Green and Sustainable Microelectronics"). This may include internships, professional training, or hands-on experience that deepens students’ academic, technical, or practical skills.


Which type of grants are awarded?

  1. Coverage for tuition and registration fees (max. €3,500 as reimbursement)
  2. Coverage for participating in specialized courses/trainings & travel (max. €1,500 as reimbursement)
  3. Coverage for the costs of issuing documentation such as visa & residence permits, life expenses, language accreditation, etc.(€1,000 as reimbursement)
  4. Contribution to the costs of short-term mobility stays (participation at events, master thesis, trainings, internships) related to the Master's Degree (max. €1,500 as upfront payment)
  5. Contribution to the expenses of long-term mobility stays related to the Master's Degree, e.g. the Double Degree Programme with TU Darmstadt for transport, accomodation, meals (max. €6,000 as upfront payment).
  6. Contribution to expenses for scientific achievements (e.g. publications, conference attendance, presentations, etc.) during the mobility stays (up to €2,000 as reimbursement)


How does it work?

If you enrolled in one of the above mentioned Master's programmes at TU Graz and you plan to do a mobility activity related to GreenChips-EDU topics ("Green and Sustainable Microelectronics") no later than June 30, 2027, please apply to our Scholarship by:

  • Writing the Cover Letter (description of yourself, academic performance, personal backgrund, etc.)
  • Filling out the Form B (indicating which type of grant you apply for, it can be multiple)
  • Providing the necessary documentation as indicated in Form B (academic grade documentation, transcripts, mobility placement documentation from the host organisation, etc.)
  • Sending your application within our 4 call deadlines (see info box to the right) to this email address: greenchips-edu.scholarships.ifenoSpam@tugraz.at

Please note: The applicants must hold the nationality of EU Member States or countries associated with the Digital Europe Programme (e.g., countries in the European Economic Area - EEA: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway - and other nations that have signed association agreements, including those from the Western Balkans and Eastern Europe: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine).


What will happen next?

  • A selection committee comprising project members based at the Institute of Electronics will review the scholarship applications and assess them based on the academic performance of the applicants and their personal circumstances
  • The applicants will be informed about the selection and the granted amounts via email within days after the deadline
  • The applicants will receive the granted amounts for their mobility stay either as upfront payment (80% before, 20% after the stay) or reimbursement of the costs occured.


After the mobility?

Provide us a short report/testimonial about your mobility experience

  • fill out questionnaire (send to you by us)
  • provide us a brief video for our outreach campaign

and you will receive the remaining 20% of the granted amounts (in case of an upfront payment) or the reimbursement of the costs, depending on the type of grant.
