PhD - Entanglement Hamiltonians in quantum many-body physics
We offer a PhD position opening in the field of quantum many-body physics, within the FWF-funded project “Entanglement Hamiltonians in quantum many-body physics” (P35434), led by the PI Viktor Eisler. The goal of the project is to get a better understanding and characterization of the entanglement structure in various states of quantum many-body systems in and out of equilibrium.
The prospective candidate should hold an MSc degree in physics, ideally with a strong background in statistical physics and quantum many-body physics. Prior experience with numerical tensor network methods (matrix product states, DMRG) is highly favorable, but not prerequisite to the position. The PhD student is expected to develop both numerical and theoretical tools for the study of entanglement properties in low-dimensional quantum many-body systems.
The salary level is fixed by the funding agency (FWF), for further details see https://www.fwf.ac.at/en/research-funding/personnel-costs/. There are additional funds available to cover expenses for conference travel. The position is offered for a fixed term of three years, and the employment should start in the first half of 2022.
Interested candidates should send their application to firstname.lastname@example.org, including CV, a short statement of research interests, as well as the contact details of a senior researcher for academic reference. The first round of applications should be received by 15 th February 2022, but the position remains open until a suitable candidate is found.
