Webinar: General Introduction to FAIR data and Data Management Planning

In recent years, Research Data Management according to the FAIR principles as well as Data Management Plans (DMPs) have become mandatory for many publishers as well as research funders (e.g. EC, FWF). Since these requirements constitute unknown territory for many researchers, Digital TU Graz (Handlungsfeld Forschung) will be hosting a webinar on Data Management and FAIR Data on Wednesday, 1 July 2020, 10-12:30 AM to show you how you can fulfil these requirements.

In close collaboration with Data Stewards from TU Delft, the webinar will give a hands-on introduction to principles of FAIR data management including data management plans. The first part of the session will consist of an introduction to FAIR principles, and an overview of what to consider when applying those principles during and after research. Instructors will then introduce data management planning, and participants will be able to create a Data Management Plan considering different types of sensitive data (e.g., commercial or personal data).

By the end of the session participants will be familiar with FAIR data principles as well as data management planning and will be able to find resources about data management.

The webinar will take place online (the link as well as registration details will be provided in due course). Please register via!

We look forward to seeing you there!

On 7th of November 2019 we hosted the Workshop "Focus on FAIR" in Graz.

After an introduction by Dr. Tony Ross-Hellauer and Dr. Tiberius Ignat , we had a range of great talks on Research Data Management in theory and practice.

  • Tiziana Ferrari: The Ascent of Open Science and the European Open Science Cloud
  • Marta Teperek: Towards FAIR data: what’s FAIR and what’s unfair?
  • Paolo Budroni: Towards the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC): reflections on a local basis for domestic infrastructures
  • Ignasi Labastida i Juan: Paving the way for adopting FAIR Data in a university
  • Stefanie Lindstaedt: Researcher-led FAIR services at TU Graz

In a final panel discussion, experts from industry talked about their current challenges and opportunities when it comes to data management.

Due to technical problems, only the talks by Paolo Budroni, Ignasi Labastida i Juan, and Stefanie Lindstaedt, along with the panel discussion, were recorded. They are available below.
