Monitoring slope stability with fiber Bragg gratings

IGMS took part in a life-size slope stability experiment carried out by the Institute of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering and Keller Grundbau GmbH in late August 2012.

A series of life-size experiments were conducted to determine the slope stability of flood-prevention dams with and without highly innovative slope stabilization methods.

IGMS performed deformation measurements and the analysis of data acquired by classic geodetic methods and integral fiber optic measurements with highest accuracy and sub-µm resolution to gain in-depth information on small-scale deformations.
