MOONBASE

Magda Lipsinic • Andreas Lenac

An artist needs an inspiring workspace.
This idea was at the core of our designing process, when it came to Moonbase. We really tried to create an interior that visually and emotionally stimulates the inhabitant; we reached the conclusion that we wanted to create nonrectengular, cave-like, cozy rooms.

While the exterior of Moonbase remains a square, it’s inside is quite the opposite, by having every single room inside be a carved out sphere.

To ensure a connection between Moonbase and it’s environment - Buchkogel - the house would be 3D printed out of locally-sourced clay (a special kind of dirt that has been used for a long time in the building of houses). Locally sourced lime would then be used for the facade, with an added light-peach pigment to maximize coziness.

By combining the most modern technologies and one of the oldest natural building materials, we ensured a waste-free construction process for Moonbase.

Moonbase is ready to welcome artists that seek inspiration in an everyday setting.
