PROTECT – Performance Recovery Strategy & Advanced Control for Efficient Fuel Cell Operation

The project aims to extend the durability of automotive PEM fuel cell systems using innovative operating and control strategies and pursues these goals: Develop new procedures for highly dynamic PEM fuel cell operation in order to minimize degradation caused by start-up/shut-down processes (especially at temperatures below 0 °C) and extend the durability, implement a fuel cell control unit (FCCU) for these and cell recovery strategies. The proposed solutions will be transferred from lab scale to system level and have high potential for commercial exploitation.
