Short stack analysis for the evaluation of total lifetime in automotive application

The focus of this work is on the investigation of the different degradation phenomena of automotive fuel cells that occur during highly dynamic operation.

For this purpose, tests are performed in the laboratory under defined operating conditions such as load cycles and start-up and shut-down cycles (SU/SD). The degradation over the service life is analyzed using electrochemical analysis methods such as polarization curves, cyclic voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry and electrochemical impedance measurements. The exhaust gases as well as the water exiting the cell are also analysed to investigate material degradation.
