Purification strategies for bio-oil and lipids produced from agri-cultural and processing tomato residues
The Biorefinery Group at Graz University of Technology is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join the Horizon project “ToFuel,” developing energy-driven biorefinery concepts from tomato production residues for sustainable aviation fuels. The successful candidate will develop and optimize advanced purification routes for oil and lipid fractions from hydrothermal liquefaction and fermentation, using approaches such as mass transfer operations, hydrodenitrification, extraction with novel solvents, and chemical reaction engineering. Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field, with strong laboratory, analytical, experimental design, and data evaluation skills.
