CEET attends the biannual International Energy Agency Advanced Fuel Cells, Task 30: Electrolysis Workshop in South Africa

From October 28th to November 1st, Özge Kiziltan from the Bodner group participated in the biannual IEA AFC Task 30: Electrolysis Workshop in Muldersdrift, South Africa. The event brought together over 60 experts from over 12 countries to focus on the advancement of the electrochemical production of hydrogen.

The workshop featured flash talks showcasing recent research along with thematic discussion sessions on key topics such as membranes, electrodes, balance of plant and system integration. Experts came together in the panel discussions on PGM market in South Africa, metal processing with hydrogen, electrolysis diagnostics, ammonia and hydrogen, CCM manufacturing and scale-up.  Özge Kiziltan presented her recent research, cationic contamination in PEMWE systems, emphasizing the role of sodium contamination during the flash talk sessions. She also took part in thematic breakout sessions where researchers collaborated to drive progress in the technology.

The programme concluded with a virtual tour to HYSA research facilities and technical visits to Impala Platinum Mine and Harmony Gold Mine.
