The Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering at Graz University of Technology is committed to excellence in research and teaching. 2 University Assistants (Prae Doc, 4 years) at the Institute of Software Technology

40h/week, presumably starting 01 October 2020.

Admission requirements

Completed master or diploma studies in Computer Science, Computational Science, Telecommunication Engineering or Software Engineering.

Wanted Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge and practical experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Visual programming languages (Scratch, Snap!, AppInventor, Blockly, or Catrobat)
    • Programming skills in Python and/or Kotlin/Java and/or Swift
    • Agile software development methods (Kanban, test-driven development, etc.)
  • Social, communicative and didactic competence, teaching experience, e.g. as a study assistant*is desirable
  • Good academic performance
  • Good English language skills

Tasks

  • Cooperation and independent teaching in the compulsory courses for the offered study directions (main focus: Agile Software Development, Mobile Applications, Mobile Game Design and Engineering, Foundations of Computer Science, Visual Programming, Teacher's Training for Computer Science)
  • Requisition and implementation of research projects (main focus: Agile Software Development, Software Technology, Visual Programming, User Experience, Project Management, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Education, Poverty Alleviation, Disruptive Innovation)
  • Cooperation with the Catrobat project team (programming language and environment for teenagers)

Classification

B 1 under the collective agreement for university employees; the monthly minimum remuneration for this use is currently € 2.929.- gross (14 times per year, including social and health insurance).
