Admission to Bachelor’s Degree Programmes

  1. Application for Admission form
  2. School leaving certificate
    For the bachelor’s degree programme Molecular Biology you must additionally have the subject biology in your school leaving certificate.
  3. Proof of special university entrance qualification – for citizens of countries outside the EU and EEA:
    Letter of confirmation from a recognized university of the country in which the applicant's school leaving certificate was awarded, stating that the applicant fulfils all admission requirements for the equivalent bachelor's degree program to the one applied for at TU Graz, so that the applicant is eligible to take up a study place in the semester in which they intend to begin their studies at TU Graz or the current academic year.*
  4. If applicable: Transcript of Records (of studies already started)
  5. Proof of German language competence
  6. Copy of passport (only the page with the personal data)
  7. Curriculum vitae

Admission to Master’s Degree Programmes

  1. Application for Admission form
  2. Certificate of the completed undergraduate degree
  3. Transcript of records of the completed degree with details of the examinations taken, grades and credits
  4. Proof of special university entrance qualification – for citizens of countries outside the EU and EEA:
    Letter of confirmation from a recognized university in the country where the applicant obtained the bachelor's or Diplom degree, confirming that the applicant was eligible for admission to the equivalent master's degree programme to the one applied for at TU Graz in the semester in which they intend to begin their studies at TU Graz or the current academic year.*
  5. Proof of German language competence (only for master's programmes taught in German)
    Proof of English language competence (only for master's programmes taught in English)
  6. Copy of passport (only the page with the personal data)

For admission to the master’s degree programme in Architecture, candidates have to submit a portfolio for the purposes of assessing the equivalence of their previous degree.

Admission to Doctoral Programmes

  1. Application for Admission form
  2. Certificates of the completed undergraduate and graduate degrees.
  3. Transcript of records or diploma supplement of the degree courses with details of examinations taken, grades and credits
  4. Proof of special university entrance qualification – for citizens of countries outside the EU and EEA:
    Letter of confirmation from a recognized university in the country where the applicant obtained the master’s degree, confirming that the applicant was eligible for admission to doctoral studies equivalent to the type of doctoral studies applied for at TU Graz in the semester in which they intend to begin their studies at TU Graz.*
  5. Written letter of confirmation from your doctoral supervisor at TU Graz, stating that they are willing to supervise your dissertation
  6. Copy of passport (only the page with personal data)

Find a thesis subject and a supervisor

The Doctoral Schools cover a wide spectrum of research fields in which you can write a thesis. On the website of each doctoral school you can find the subject areas and contact details of potential supervisors.

If one of these people agrees to supervise your thesis, they will give you a letter of confirmation that you can submit as part of the admissions process.

 

*Explanation: Special University Entrance Qualification

The Austrian Universities Act (in German: Universitätsgesetz 2002) requires a special entrance qualification of all university applicants from non-EU and non-EEA countries. This confirmation consists in the fulfilment of additional study specific admission requirements including the admission statement to the chosen degree programme, applicable at an officially recognised/accredited university in the state which issued the secondary education diploma, the bachelor or master diploma.

The Islamic Azad University is not accepted!
 

What does special university entrance qualification mean?

In order to be admitted at the TU Graz, you have to prove that you are entitled to an admission to your chosen degree programme in the country which issued your secondary education diploma/ degree  for the semester you want to start your studies at the TU Graz. A corresponding confirmation referring to the nearest related branch of studies must be provided in cases where the branch of studies applied for does not exist in the country where the secondary school leaving diploma was issued.

The proof has to include:

  • Applicants name
  • Date of issue of the proof
  • Specification of the degree programme
  • Fulfilment of study specific admission requierments including the admission statement to the chosen degree programme at an accredited university in the state which issued the secondary education diploma, bachelor or master diploma
  • The current term or academic year, in which the applicant would like to pursue his studies at TU Graz

The special entrance qualification has to be translated and legalized according to the regulations of the country.

Where do you get the confirmation of special university entrance qualification?

The confirmation must be issued by an officially recognised/accredited technical university or faculty of the country where the secondary school leaving diploma, bachelor or master diploma was issued.

Is there a validity period of the confirmation of special university entrance qualification?

It must be valid for the desired date of commencement of studies at the TU Graz.
