Overview: Admission of International Degree Programme Applicants

Every applicant with a foreign secondary-school leaving certificate or an international third-level degree or diploma must submit an application for a place to study in a specific degree programme.

1. Choice of Degree Programme

Choose a degree programme from the list of Degree programmes at TU Graz.

2. Admission Procedure

Admission procedures exist for the German-language bachelor’s degree programmes in Architecture and Molecular Biology as well as for all master’s programmes taught in English.

For admission to the German-language bachelor’s degree programmes in Architecture and Molecular Biology, you must submit proof of German language competence at level C1, pass the admission procedure and submit an application for allocation of a study place.

3. Application for a Study Place

  • Fill out the form Application for Admission in full.
  • Collect all the necessary documents for the admission.
    Check whether you need to obtain translations and/or certifications of your documents, and if yes, in what form.
    Please note that all documents must be submitted in German or English.
  • Send the complete application with all the documents within the deadline by post or in person to the Registration Office of TU Graz.
    Applications that arrive after the deadline or are sent by e-mail cannot be considered.
  • Please understand that for organizational reasons, TU Graz cannot give any information about the status of your application during this time.
  • The Registration Office will notify you of the outcome of your application in writing when a decision has been taken.

Application Deadlines for Applicants from outside the EU and the EEA (European Economic Area)

For bachelor's and master's degree programmes and doctoral programmes

  • Winter semester: 1 May to 5 September
  • Summer semester: 1 December to 5 February

Application Deadlines for Applicants who are Citizens of EU and EAA (European Economic Area) Member States

For Bachelor's degree programmes

  • Winter semester: 1 May to 5 September
  • Summer semester: 1 December to 5 February

For Master's degree programmes

Please avoid sending in an application for a master's degree programme close to the end of the additional registration period. In this case it is not possible to guarantee a study place in the semester you apply for. With a positive written decision the final admission as a student can be completed up to the end of the additional admission period.

For Doctoral programmes

Applications and admission of students for doctoral studies are also possible outside of the general and additional admission period.

Further Information for International Students

Study Grants

TU Graz does not award study grants to foreign students. Applications for study grants should be submitted to the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy via the Austrian embassy or consulate in the applicant’s home country. Applicants can also contact the OeAD (Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research).
