Activate your TUGRAZonline account
You’ll receive a PIN via email 3–4 business days after making the payment. Enter it to convert your basic account into a student account. Be sure to activate two-factor authentication afterward. Otherwise, you won’t be able to log in after seven days. Through TUGRAZonline, you
Activate your TU Graz card
Print the current expiration date onto your TU Graz card at a renewal station. If you haven’t received your card yet, check TUGRAZonline to see if a photo has been uploaded, and schedule an appointment with Registrar's Office. With ID Austria, you can use your digital student ID in the “eAusweise” app. However, this does not replace all functions of the TU Graz card.
Explore the curriculum
Familiarise yourself with your degree programme’s curriculum and get an overview of the recommended semester plan. You can find the latest version of the study plan on your degree programme's website or in TUGRAZonline under “My Studies.” Be sure to also check the academic calendar and the schedule of breaks between courses.
Register for courses
Register for your first-semester courses in TUGRAZonline. Be sure to check the dates, rooms, and tools used, such as TeachCenter, TUbe, or Webex, well in advance. Also, be sure to attend orientation courses (OL, Introduction to Your Degree Program or similar) that are required in the first semester.
Joint Degree Programs
If you’re enrolled in a joint degree program with another universities (e.g., NAWI Graz, teacher education), you’ll take courses at TU Graz and at the partner university or universities. For questions regarding course recognition, scholarships, or other administrative matters, contact the Dean’s Office at your home university.
Important dates for the start of the semester
Attend the (International) Welcome Days in September and the first-semester orientation session organised by your student representatives in early October. You’ll receive important information about starting your studies, learn about daily life as a student, and get tips from experienced students. Take this opportunity to network with your fellow students.
Apply for financial aid
Find out about student grants and other financial aid options for students. If you are eligible for a student grant, be sure to apply for it in a timely manner. If necessary, download proof of enrollment and other supporting documents via TUGRAZonline.
Courses to prepare
Courses before the start of the semester (German)
Available online at iMooX.at and as a course at TU Graz (sign in via TUGRAZonline):
- Fit4Math (online from August, on site in September, recommended for all degree programmes)
- Get Fit in Computer Science (from September, recommended for IT students)
Available online at imooX.at
- Basic concepts of mechanics for technical applications (from August especially for degree programmes with a mechanical component, e.g. Mechanical Engineering and Digital Engineering)
- Self-Organised Studying SOS (general introduction to how the university works, from August, recommended for all degree programmes)
- Fit for University series (further courses that you can complete at any time; e.g. digital skills for first-year students or learning programming with Python)
Courses at the start of semester (German)
- Mathematics 0: free optional or compulsory subject depending on field of study, in October at TU Graz
- Mathematics 1 / Mathematics I / Mathematics A: Compulsory subject for individual fields of study, in October at TU Graz
Bridge courses for NAWI degree programmes
For NAWI Graz degree programmes, bridge courses also take place at University of Graz, for example the "Mathematics" bridge course. It is worth enquiring about the offer from the respective student representatives at the University of Graz.
