Building Information Modeling

Strengthen Your BIM skills!

The seminar series “Strengthen Your BIM Skills!” is being held in cooperation with the ZT Forum.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a method used to create virtual building models. This method allows all information collected during the life cycle of a building to be digitally modeled, combined and recorded. In this way, BIM can be used to support all phases from strategic planning to operation. This includes making visualisations and simulations in the project planning phase, calculating quantities and masses needed for the tender offer, model-based construction sequence planning during realisation phase, and even process optimisation for the building use.

In Austria, many planners and building contractors in the building construction field already benefit from having access to a common database. This database can be accessed by all architects, structural engineers, building engineering physicists, on-site trade workers, etc., who are involved in a project in the sense of integral planning.

BIM-specific modules are held over two days (9 a.m. – 6 p.m., 1 day devoted to theory, 1 day devoted to practice):

  • Basic information, digitalisation and modeling, part 1
  • Basic information, digitalisation and modeling, part 2
  • Coordination
  • Project management

Subject-based modules are held on one day (9 a.m. – 6 p.m., theory in the morning and practice in the afternoon):

  • BIM in building construction
  • BIM in building services engineering
  • BIM in structural engineering
  • BIM in surveying
