Zinzendorfgasse as a space of opportunity and real laboratory for temporary interventions
The Zinzendorfgasse forms an important connection from the Glacis to the University of Graz and is therefore heavily used and lively during the semester. However, the much lower frequency during the holiday period not only results in less
lively street scene, but also manifests itself in vacancies. The car as the dominant element in the street space also prevents the space from developing its full potential.
Urban and traffic planning are already working on plans for a transformation of the street, and the master studio of the Institute of Urban Development is also working together with the Zinzengrinsen association on a transformation to Slow Street with urban qualities. We want to use the "state of emergency" of the street festival Zinzengrinsen to manifest the overarching strategy with temporary interventions and thus show how organizational and design interventions can affect the space.
We develop our interventions within a given framework that includes the three themes of metabolism, production and collectivity. These themes will be worked on in three drafts and implemented in a one-to-one model for the festival.
