PhD position in “Operating Systems and Verified Dependability by Design” as part of the LEAD project "Dependability in the Internet of Things"

The Institute for Technical Informatics at Graz University of Technology is looking for a motivated Ph.D. student to fill the open position as a University Assistant available from November 1, 2019 or later.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct highly competitive research within the LEAD project "Dependability in the Internet of Things" and pursue a Ph.D. in the area of Operating Systems and/or Basic Software. Specifically, the selected candidate will be working together with several Ph.D. students and senior researchers in the sub-project "Verified Dependability by Design".

We expect applicants to have interest in and/or prior experience with Embedded Systems (e.g., Cyber-Physical Systems, Internet of Things, or automotive applications), as well as good knowledge in many of the following areas:

- Architecture of operating systems and/or basic software for embedded systems and/or real-time applications;

- Model-based software design;

- Hardware, software and programming (ASM/C/C++) of resource-limited embedded systems;

Applicants must hold a Master degree (or equivalent) in computer engineering, computer science, or electrical engineering, and should have an excellent track record, maturity, self-motivation, as well as the ability to work both independently and in an interdisciplinary team. Experience in scientific projects, international cooperation and publication activities are considered an asset. Candidates should have very good command of the English language; knowledge of German is not required.
