Conformity investigation of type 3 doubly fed induction generator wind power plant regarding grid code compliance test

According to the currently valid technical and organizational rules for operators and users of grids, in short TOR Erzeuger, among others, a proof of conformity of fault ride through capability, in short FRT capability, must be provided by means of simulation.

The fault ride through capability is specified by a voltage-time profile, above which the power generation system must stay connected to the grid and operate stably and below which the power generation system may disconnect.

This paper is mainly concerned with the analysis of the simulation methods for the verification of the fault ride through capability for non-synchronous generators. It is analyzed how the methods affect the results and how parameter sets, which are specified by the grid operator with a certain uncertainty, influence the dynamic behavior of the power generation plant.
