The Institute for Railway Infrastructure Design is ready to collaborate with you and our partners in the RCRS to ensure the railway is ready for the challenges of the future.
We aim to understand the fundamental physics of wheel–rail interaction and load transfer, conduct further research in this area, and examine complex systems (such as transition zones and turnouts) in detail. This knowledge enables us to adapt the dimensioning of the superstructure to the increasing loads of the future (i.e. more traffic on the railways), making it more resistant while requiring less maintenance. We can investigate and verify these issues through in-track measurements, laboratory testing, and simulations.
