What is Herbert Eichholzer Förderungspreis?

This award named after the Graz architect Herbert Eichholzer (1903-1943) is given to talented students of architecture every two years. The award is advertised by the Faculty of Architecture. The  department of cultural affairs in the City of Graz then proposes the prize in recognition of the significance of Herbert Eichholzer; the award is finally confirmed by a decision of the city senate. The award is intended on the one hand to symbolise the identification of the city of Graz and of TU Graz with Herbert Eichholzer’s ideals and on the other to support the continuation of the kind of conscientious interaction with the trends of the time that he exemplified. The award should also be a permanent reminder of Eichholzer’s architectural work.
