The book "Learning from Berlin | Großstruktur als urbaner Generator" will be presented at the exhibition opening on February 4th. Prof. Roger Riewe, head of the Institute of Architecture Technology at TU Graz, will provide some opening words.

What can we learn from Berlin - from a city that has written history, been acted on by the most varied influences and, not least, has now become one of the most attractive cities in Europe? The project “LEARNING FROM BERLIN | Großstruktur als urbaner Generator” addresses the theme of large-scale constructions in the urban context of Berlin through exemplary results of design courses at TU Graz.

At the Institute of Architecture Technology, we have for years been addressing themes in the master studio courses that deal with large-scale, complex structures on the one hand, and complex layering of uses against the backdrop of urban densification on the other. We specifically address densification scenarios in inner-city areas and develop projects that meet the extremely complex requirements of selective densification.

The book and the exhibition synthesize these arguments. The focus lies on the design process.
