Christoph Solstreif-Pirker: "Artistic Research, Architecture and the Ecological Trauma"

Based on his recently defended PhD thesis "Being-Together-With the World-Without-Us," Christoph Solstreif-Pirker will depart from his work and cross-disciplinary research process to collaboratively discuss the importance of artistic research within the realm of architecture and the sciences as an important tool to counteract the prevailing narratives of the ongoing planetary crisis.

Christoph Solstreif-Pirker is an architect, musician, and transdisciplinary artist. After studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark and the Graz University of Technology, he defended the first dissertation dedicated to artistic researc hat Graz University of Technology in Novembe 2019.
He works as university assistant at the Institute of Architecture and Landscape, TU Graz,  and Post-Graduate Researcher at the Global Center for Advanced Studies, Dublin. His research interests include political ecology, performative research, non-philosophy, Lacanian psychoanalysis and their connection to space, environment, and architecture. His work has appeard in publications including GAM – Graz Architecture Magazine, Ruukku: Studies in Artistic Research, and JAR: Journal for Artistic Research.
