The reformation of the austrian educational system is being elaborately discussed in both political and social forms. The direction has already been predetermined while the topics all-day school, incorporated tuition and open learning procedures are treated as the new basic educational elements, helping to provide equal opportunities within the international competition. But these new goals can only be realised once the architecture of school-buildings is adapted to provide enough quality space for learning, living and encounter. Within this Master thesis I examined the spatial requirements and potentials of an all-day school with merging scopes of learning and recreation, subsequent remodelling the insights into a real term architectural design. Initiated trough the observation of the "Forschungsfeld Projektschule Graz", I completed space-time-analysis, led Interviews with operating experts and consequentially developed a profile for spatial requirements while additionally defining possible potentials. The Experience gained within these studies, have been put to practice in an architectural design, based on the competition "Volksschule Schwefel". Aim of the competition was the collection of preliminary drafts for the redesign of the elementary school Schwefel in Hohenems for approximately 300 pupils. The intention of the municipality is to implement a school, where incorporated tuition, all-day-education and open learning can take place  The master thesis Elementary school Schwefel. Incorporated all-day school, spatial requirements and potentials was supervised by Franziska Hederer (Institute of Spatial Design).
